City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #106 ~ A Little Rough Around the Edges

Hi ALL!  It is Cheryl back this week as hostess and I have picked for a theme "A Little Rough Around the Edges".  Sometimes a little roughness adds interest and beauty to someone or something.  With that in mind...our challenge to you is this...add a little burlap on your project somewhere.  I just love the look of burlap...that little bit of roughness...of texture it can add to a project.  Sooooo don't be scared to be a little rough around the edges and grab ahold of some burlap and get going.  I can't wait to view your projects this week!

Get to know Michelle......

Hello everyone! It's such a pleasure to be here at City Crafter Challenge Blog!!! I'm Michelle, wife of 12 years to my awesome husband Chris, mom to 3 super kids, Emma, Natalie and Christopher,  and lover of all crafts!!! I've been crafting since I was little, because of my mom, who loves to craft! I started my first blog post in October of 2010 and have loved every second of it! Cards are my favorite but I am beginning to love creating home decor and gifts. There is nothing better than reading comments from wonderful people like you, who too, have a passion for crafting!! Thank you, Kirsty!

Hello sweet friends. It's me Linda back with another challenge.
This week I am thinking pink....not a lot of pink.
"Just a hint of pink"
I would like to see you make a project using Black, White or Grey, with a hint of pink. The color of your project could be all black, all white or all grey, or you could use 2 or 3 of these colors together, but don't forget the hint of pink!
Have fun creating my friends......

Get to know Sheila....

Hi! I am a mom, a wife, a teacher, a crafter, a reader, and a pinner (in that order, I think!)  I am fairly new to the world of blogging and online scrapping challenges and such, but I love every minute of it!  I am inspired by almost everything I see---colors, patterns, and clothing.  In addition to scrapbooking, I enjoy sewing, using my glue gun on anything that doesn’t move, and making flowers.  What an honor to be asked to be a guest designer on the City Crafter Challenge Blog!  I ADORE online challenges!  Thanks Kirsty!

Get to know Lauren.....

lauren bergold is has been crafty all her life, a blogger since 2006, a pixie since 2010, an etsy shop owner since last fall, and a fan of the city crafter challenge blog for two years! she can most often be found in her natural habitat of new jersey, surrounded by art supplies, vintage ephemera, and the world's most patient husband. there is usually a bit of paint, ink, glue or glitter stuck to her somewhere... and she wouldn't have it any other way!

Here's what Lauren said about her project this week

i am SO EXCITED to be here wishing CCCB the very happiest of birthdays, and thrilled with my assignment to "CASE you if i can!"! for inspiration, i chose this gorgeous card of kirsty's from CCCB week #63

not only is it lovely, and completely lift-worthy in its own right, but also, the challenge that week was to create a project using this very lovely sketch by miss ros... so i felt like i was sneaking in a tribute to two CCCB designers... which obviously makes any project TWICE as nice, right?! then i started wondering if i even could work in a bit MORE inspiration from my favorite design team, and it turns out i could: i love the fairy element on this card of miss linda's, and also the way she has mounted it atop a verrrrrry skinny scalloped frame... and these music paper butterflies of miss cheryl's really rock my world, particularly the way she has used them alongside text paper! so i put alllllllllllllllll of that amazing inspiration together and here is what i came up with:

you can see i've used a lot of elements from kirsty's card: the soft colors paired with neutrals, pretty floral elements, loads of stitching, and the big crinkled ribbon bow anchored with a vintage button; then i've followed ros' sketch quite faithfully; plus i've incorporated the fairies and butterflies from linda and cheryl, respectively! then i added one more little twist of my own to honor the occasion of this challenge:

yes, it's a BIRTHDAY BOOK! i made a template for each month in my favorite graphics program and them printed out on clear labels which i affixed to pieces of coordinating patterned paper which make up the pages of my book. and now all that remains is a reminder to you to mark the words

"HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY CCCB...
...and many more!"

into YOUR birthday book for this week, then go off and create your own tribute to any one (or more?!) of our these talented designers!!!

City Crafter Challenge Blog Week#103 - Hats Off To You!

Hi there!
It's Ros with you this week ...
We are getting nearer to Easter and Easter always  reminds me of Easter Bonnets
so the challenge I have set for you this week is to
Create a card or project with either a Hat on it ... Or the word Hat Or Both
It doesn't have to be Easter related ... But I would like to clearly see the Hat
I hope you'll join us this week
Enjoy!
